Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Community Services’ Youth Sports Program was recently given a $10,000 check by Sodexho, June 25.
“This is for the youth league players, who we want to sponsor and help purchase uniforms and other things they need,” said Todd Fogel, the local district manager for Sodexho. “This is part of an international sponsorship and Camp Lejeune is receiving the largest portion of the pot.”
Youth services aboard Camp Lejeune provides an athletic outlet for military dependants and currently hosts multiple sports throughout the year.
Gregory Brown, the Sodexho representative for youth services aboard the base, has participated in the program for more than 11 months and was present for the presentation of the check.
“I can’t think of a better way to sponsor an organization that is benefiting the future of the country,” said Brown. “These kids gain so much from their involvement in these sports and activities, so we are proud to do this.”
Also in attendance was Wayne West, the deputy director for Camp Lejeune MCCS, who personally thanked, on behalf of the base commander and himself, all those involved in the process.
“We can’t tell you enough that this is a great program and your contribution is very much appreciated,” said West. “Once again, thank you.”
