The combat camera and public affairs military occupational specialties have merged to create the Communication Strategy and Operations field, or COMMSTRAT.

To the customer, it will seem not much has changed when it comes to requesting coverage of products from COMMSTRAT which will maintain two branches--Visual information and media & Digital Engagement. Visual information will perform legacy combat camera functions to include photo and video acquisition and graphics and reproduction services while Media & Digital Engagement branch will continue to offer legacy public affairs services using products produced by their partners in the Visual information branch. Ultimately, both will be unified by a single purpose--to jointly leverage shared photos, video, and words to communicate more effectively to various stakeholders.

Both Visual Information and Media & Digital Engagement departments will eventually both occupy Bldg. 54 in spring 2018.
