Marines, sailors, family and friends, I would first like to say "thank you" for the warm welcome we have received from the air station. Your grace and compassion eased our transition back to CONUS and gave us a first-hand look into the community that is Marine Corps Air Station New River. It’s an honor and privilege to be back in eastern North Carolina. I am truly humbled. This is the third assignment for Lori and me on the air station and, more than anywhere else we have served, we consider New River our home. We look forward to meeting you all and serving as a part of the team.
Next, I’d like to thank Col. Timothy Salmon and his wife, Annette, for their servant leadership over the last three years. I also want to wish the best for Lt. Col. Chiu as he transitions to a short overseas assignment before coming back to the station in the fall. Sgt. Maj. Oldenburg departed the station and the Marines Corps after 30 years of service, but is staying in the local area so you’ll continue to see Susan’s smile at the New River Child Development Center.
Finally, I’d like to welcome Lieutenant Colonel and Tonia Vaughn to the Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron as well as Sergeant Major and Yvette Metzger to the station headquarters.
Again, thank you. Lori and I are thrilled to be home.
