Wow, what a blessing it is to rest in the glory of the Maker who sustains all things. It is already a couple of months into the New Year. As the New Year approached, I thought of what I could do better. I’m sure many of us had thoughts and planned some sort of activities in order to improve our personal self, whether it be an internal or external process.
As I thought through things, I came to the conclusion that maybe I am approaching it from the wrong perspective. Imperfect added to imperfect yet it still will be imperfect. Thus, how could I improve my imperfect self with things which are imperfect themselves?
I needed to reconfigure that equation. I needed to add that which is infinite and perfect in order to become perfect. Only thing that is perfect is God. The death of his only begotten son on the cross was the perfect sacrifice (Heb. 9:11-14) that pleased God the Father that granted me to right to be called His child (John 1:12, 1 John 3:1) and be clothed in the righteousness of his son (Isaiah 61:10, Romans 13:14, Galatians 3:27). The conclusion for this year’s effort is to rest in the infinite glory, grace and mercy of God and be edified in faith of him for I am called his beloved child. If I do, I will experience even more of who God is, his sovereign reign, his grace and his mercy in this world even in the midst of chaos or joy.
So how would I rest in the glory of God and strengthen my faith? It all starts by going back to the foundation or basics- the Bible. It reminds me that I am his child and I am saved by the work which the Father accomplished through his son. By believing in this truth, it will set me free from the demands of this world and be edified to trust the power and authority of God. To grow in this truth, my faith in the word of God must increase. The word of God tells that faith comes from hearing the message of the gospel (Romans 10:17). Hearing the message will lead to my heart and mind being strengthened to trust his presence and submit to his sovereignty. I’m sure this year will be filled with many chaotic situations. But if my Faith is edified each day to trust in the infinite glory of God, I will have the strength and resiliency to overcome the things of this world and enjoy the blissful joys of God.
