The National Weather Service (NWS) in Newport/Morehead City, N.C. will be conducting a community forum on hurricanes on May 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The forum will be held at the Holly Ridge Community Center located at 404 Sound Road in Holly Ridge, N.C.
The forum aims to give residents a chance to ask questions and learn about hurricane preparedness. Key concepts include focusing on storm impact over storm categories as well as why it is necessary to prepare for hurricanes annually.
“We have a lot of new people moving to our area every year while other have experienced many storms as recently as Florence,” said Erik Heden, NWS warning coordinator meteorologist. “Hurricane preparedness is something every resident should know about with our close proximity to the ocean.”
