State Funeral for President George H.W. Bush

U.S. service members transfer the remains of former President George H.W. Bush on Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, Dec. 3. Military and civilian personnel assigned to Joint Task Force-National Capital Region provided ceremonial and civil affairs support during President George H.W. Bush's state funeral.

In accordance with the President's Executive Order to observe a National Day of Mourning for President George H.W. Bush on Wednesday, most federal employees at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River will be excused from work that day.

Both installations will continue to support limited essential operations of the II Marine Expeditionary Force as required and entry-level students at TECOM schools will continue to train in accordance with their schedules.

Department of Defense Education Activity schools are scheduled to be closed

and county schools will be open.

Marine Corps Community Services programs and facilities will observe holiday hours. Consult for further


Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune will remain open in a limited capacity. Previously scheduled patient appointments and/or cases will continue as normal, and the pharmacy at both the medical center and Marine Corps Exchange will open normal hours.

Commissaries on Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River will also observe normal hours of operation.
