Lejeune High School wrestler Jacob Livesay defeated Tyler Hollenbeck of Richlands in an 11-7 decision to win the third place match in the 138 lb. weight class at the Onslow County Cup at White Oak High School, Jan. 4.
The LHS wrestling team had three wrestlers finish fourth – Ethan Skillings (170), Jonathan Spivey (182) and Garrett Vega (285).
Lejeune coach George Markle, who has noticed progress in his group, was pleased with how the team did overall against the county competition.
“They exceeded my expectations, for the most part,” Markle said. “They looked like they were applying what we’ve taught them in practice. The biggest thing now is ensuring that they have the endurance and the strength to go all three rounds.”
