Now that the Carolina summer heat is out in full force, Marine Corps Community Services Lejeune-New River is offering Devil Dogs around the MCB Camp Lejeune area many opportunities to get outdoors and take advantage of their great community.
In addition to the many activities that are offered year round, there are a number of seasonal activities that take full advantage of MCB Camp Lejeune’s climate and waterfront location.
The Paradise Point golf course is open to the general public and offers lessons for all skill levels, two golf courses, two driving ranges and three putting greens. To reserve a tee time, reservations must be made seven days in advance, over the telephone or in person.
The McIntyre-Parks recreational shooting complex offers eight lanes available for archery with distances of 10 to 50 yards, as well as seven skeet fields with two trap overlaps with a five stand overlay.
MCCS also offers a number of outdoor activities through Outdoor Adventures, including evening and moonlight kayak tours, stand up paddle boarding, canoe and camping trips for families. Custom packages are also available for entire units.
The three Marinas on MCB Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River also offer normal marina services, as well as equipment and boats available for rental.
In addition to the pools that are open year round, the three outdoor pools are now open as well. The pools offer swim lessons, American Red Cross training, pool parties, group exercises and free swim times. All pools except the Wallace Creek Fitness center offer recreational swimming.
Onslow Beach also offers a number of options for those seeking to take to water. The beach has volleyball courts, basketball courts and guarded swimming areas through Labor Day. There are also a number of gazebos and lodging that can be reserved through the Onslow Beach reservation office.
