HITT Preliminaries begin

Preliminaries for the 5th annual High Intensity Tactical Training (HITT) Competition will begin this Friday, June 7 at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River’s HITT Centers starting at 8 a.m..

The Marine competition that spreads across the Corps tests the fitness levels, combat readiness and resiliency of Marines. The top male and female from installations across the Marine Corps will go on to compete Sept. 9-13 at the HITT Championship at MCB Quantico.

“By implementing the latest cutting edge training methods and fundamental scientific principles, the HITT program focuses on enhancing athleticism for today’s tactical athlete – the United States Marine,” said Christopher Campbell, Camp Lejeune's assistant HITT program coordinator.

There will be two main events for each preliminary. The first event is a series of performance assessments that include vertical jump, pro agility, prone 25-yard sprint, max deadlift, max pull ups and 300-yard shuttle. The second event is a 300-yard tactical shuttle that tests the Marines’ strength, endurance and agility.

To register for the competition, fill out the registration form online at www.mccslejeune-newriver.com/hitt or visit your nearest HITT center.

The HITT Center aboard Camp Lejeune is located at Bldg. 401 across from Goettge Memorial Field House. New River’s HITT Center is in Bldg. AS-4024. Registration closes at 0800 on the day of the event. There is no entry fee since the event is for active duty only, but command approval is needed.

A second preliminary will be held on Friday, June 28 at the same locations, but Marines may only participate in one of the preliminaries.
